Once you have viewed the video presentation and/or read the new curriculum material on the UKFPO website, please complete the following questions concerning your opinion of the new Foundation Programme curriculum.  This part of the questionnaire should take 10 minutes or less.

1. Having viewed the video and read the new curriculum, what are your overall thoughts concerning the new Foundation Programme curriculum starting in August 2021? *


2. The purpose of the UK Foundation Programme is to establish the newly qualified doctor as:
  1. – an accountable, capable and compassionate clinician;
  2. – a valuable member of healthcare workforce;
  3. – a professional, responsible for their own practice and portfolio development.
What do you think about these outcomes of the curriculum? *


3. On completing the Foundation Programme we envisage that the doctor should be able to deliver safe, compassionate care with indirect supervision in areas covering generalist practice and be prepared to develop more specialist skills when they choose to do so.

What do you think about the level of practice expected of a doctor who has completed the Foundation Programme? *


4. Our intention is to include the following topics in the core teaching programme:

– Mental health issues (FPCs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
– Health promotion and Public Health (FPCs 3, 4, 13)
– Simulation (FPCs 2, 6, 8, 10)
– Leadership (FPCs 6,9)
– Quality improvement methodology (FPC 6, 9)
– Appraisal of evidence (FPC 3, 12)
– Careers guidance (FPC 13)
– Integration of acute illness into chronic disease management and multiple comorbidities (FPCs 1,2,3,4,5,6,12,13)
– End of life care (FPCs 1,2,3,4,5,6,12,13)
– Frailty (FPC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13)
– High risk prescribing (FPC 2, 3, 4)
– Teaching Skills (FPC 10)
– Patient Safety (FPC1-9, 11, 13)
– Use of new technologies and the digital agenda (FPC 12)

6. Doctors in the UKFP come from a variety of backgrounds. In developing the curriculum we have tried to ensure that it is fair to all doctors training within the programme. Considering your own point of view or that of those doctors who work around you, what do you think about the way the new curriculum will achieve fairness and ensure equality ? *


7. Are there any changes you would like to see made to the curriculum for doctors starting in 2021 ? *
